Are we all alone? What happened to the revolution?
No point stressing, what's a 100 years or so in the scheme of things?
In 1968, I really thought the revolution might be just round the corner. But it turned out that most of the things we were taking to the streets about could be granted by capitalism. We were able to win battles without bringing down the system. One thing I hadn't grasped at the time was the flexibility and dynamism of capitalism.
I think the struggles we took part in back then were really
important ones - but they were in many ways a continuation of the
bourgeois revolution. Capitalism is not inherently racist or sexist ...
